How it works
Six steps, and the owner decides at each one.
We prepare the company and stay with the owner through the decision. The data lab reviews the record, makes the offer, signs the license and pays.

1
A conversation
We talk about the business, the systems it runs on and how many years of history they hold. If the records aren't worth pursuing, we say so on the call.
Hyphae
A short call and a rough picture of your systems.
-
2
Ownership and contracts
We separate the company's own operating records from anything held on a customer's behalf, and flag customer agreements that limit how records can be used.
Hyphae with the owner
Your customer contracts, read by you or your counsel.
-
3
Intake
We prepare the data lab's intake with you. It asks for estimates per system: how much data, how long in use, how many seats. No files or exports.
Hyphae with the owner
Estimates from your admin consoles.
-
4
Review and offer
The data lab reviews the record and makes an offer, usually within one to two weeks of the intake. It reads an anonymized sample before it settles the price.
The data lab
A call with their team.
-
5
Your decision
We go through the offer with you: which systems are covered, for how long, for what use, and on what exclusivity. You accept, ask for changes or walk away.
The owner, with Hyphae
A decision. There is no fee and no obligation at any stage before you sign.

6
License and payment
The license is signed with the data lab. A specialist anonymization firm strips identifying details before the data lab or any AI lab sees the record, and the data lab pays the company on net 30 to 60 day terms.
The data lab
Access to the licensed systems, limited to the license scope.
How the records are protected
The data lab's handling rules, in plain terms.
Nothing moves before an offer
Nothing leaves your systems until the data lab has made an offer and you have accepted it.
Anonymized before anyone reads it
Names, emails, phone numbers, account numbers and addresses are removed or replaced. Roles, timestamps and the work itself are kept.
Your identity stays with two people
At the data lab, two named people can see the company's identity alongside its data. Buyers see a code, never your name.
Use is bounded by the license
Defined systems, a defined term and a stated use. Resale or use beyond the license is not permitted.
Nobody contacts your customers or staff
The data lab is the only counterparty. No buyer ever contacts the company, its customers or its people.
Questions
How much of our team's time does this take?
Very little before an offer: a call, a look through your contracts and some estimates from your admin consoles. After you sign, someone with admin rights grants access to the systems in scope.
Who answers the technical and legal questions?
We handle the preparation and keep the deal moving. The data lab answers questions about its review, anonymization and license terms. Questions about your own contracts belong with your counsel, and we are not a law firm.
What happens if we don't accept the offer?
Nothing changes. There is no fee at any stage, no exclusivity while you talk, and no obligation to proceed.
Data Advisory
Have a question about the process?
Ask it in your first message. We'll answer it on the call, or get the answer from the data lab.
